What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information between visits, such as your preferences or session state. A cookie is set by the site you are visiting (a first-party cookie) or by a service that site loads (a third-party cookie). Most cookies carry an expiry date: session cookies disappear when you close the browser, while persistent cookies stay until their set date or until you delete them.
Similar technologies, like local storage and pixel tags, work in comparable ways and are covered by this policy. Local storage keeps small pieces of data in your browser without sending them back with every request, and pixel tags are tiny requests that tell a server a page was opened. Where this policy says cookies, the same handling applies to those equivalents.
